| Fear: A Sure Sign the EGO is in Charge. |
|
“Fear is ego,” said Lynn Telford-Sahl, our Guest Speaker on the February 9th teleclass. Wow! That really made an impact on me. It provided a quick answer to a question I hear a lot: “when do I know it is my ego talking, and when do I know it is guidance talking?”
If you are feeling afraid—it is ego!
Simple.
When I am in fear, I am out of alignment with my Source. Although that is not a very surprising piece of news . . . I mean it does make perfect sense . . . the gift of this idea is that it brings the awareness front and center so that I can “call out the ego” the moment I recognize I am afraid.
There is nothing like looking ego in the face to cause it to slink back into the shadow.
“Love and fear. That is all there is,” said Lynn. “You are either operating in love or fear.”
“Oh,” I said. “You mean that peaceful, calm, joyful feeling I have at those times when each moment flows into the next with a sense of effortlessness is love. Of course! I just never equated that ‘floating through my day’ feeling as being in the love vibration.”
At first I was excited, thinking I had found a black and white formula for spotting the ego. (Don’t we humans love to think we have “it” all figured out?) Oh I was so happy. Once again, life was reduced to a simple good/bad, right/wrong, framework.
Hmm . . . not so fast. As I pondered these ideas over the next few days I wondered: what about the in-between feelings, like when I am not exactly afraid, but not in the flow either? What about feeling enthusiasm or excitement? Are these ego states, or are they clues that I am aligned with my Source?
Bummer! This was not going to be a “just add insight and I am enlightened” experience. But it was another step forward into being more conscious. So it was not so much of a bummer, after all. (I am grateful for every bit of consciousness I acquire.)
This is what I love about our Spiritual Growth Community. By connecting each week, exploring spiritual growth topics, we support each other in becoming more conscious. The more conscious we are, the more choices we have, and the more JOY and less struggle we experience in our daily lives. And, hey, who doesn’t want that?!
BOTTOM LINE: Although we still have a lot of learning to do to sort out the call of the ego from the call of our Source, being aware that debilitating fear is ego can be a catalyst to move us more quickly into using our spiritual tools to shift our perspective from fear to love.
TIP: Continue to refine your discernment skill by paying close attention to your self. Notice what makes your heart sing and gravitate toward those things. Move away from things (including people, jobs, organizations, etc.) that suck the life right out of you (even a little!)
P.S. The purpose of life is to live! To experience! To grow! Just keep moving forward, stay intent on living your life On Purpose as your Authentic Self expecting to have more JOY and less struggle the more conscious you become. Yeah!

Tomorrow, February 26th is our Bonus teleclass titled: "Becoming the Authority in Your Life". This is open to the public so invite your friends to join in. They need to register, so have them go to http://www.spiritualgrowthcommunity.com/telesession-022609.html to register. They will receive a return confirmation email with call in information. Please don’t just give them the call in number. Having them register is a gentle way to introduce them to the Spiritual Growth Community.
Our Spiritual Growth Community theme for March is Turning Confusion Into Confidence. We will be exploring the topic of intuition, as well as strengthening our trust in ourselves, and strengthening our ability to stay connected to our guidance moment by moment. Our March Guest Speaker will be Karyn Greenstreet. Karyn is my geeky business coach who shepherded me through the maze of the internet technology to create the Spiritual Growth Community. But before she became a computer geek she taught people how to develop their intuition.
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. This fascinating book will open your eyes to the real cost of our industrial food pipeline. We must change how we feed ourselves and the world . . . sooner rather than later, or we won’t have a planet that will sustain us.
Written with charming wit and humor, interspersed with little known facts about our food supply, Barbara Kingsolver shows us a way out of the dilemma that actually enriches our lives and makes food the joy and pleasure it is intended to be. (HINT: make friends with your local farmers and you’ll be eating better than you could have imagined!)
